Well-known academic institution is seeking a direct hire Assistant Controller to join their team of professionals.

Responsibilities Include:

Providing a broad range of Accounting and Finance services and ensure reporting and data integrity.
Managing accounts payable and payroll operations. General accounting functions; reconciliation, recording ledger activity, preparing financial reports. Review of financial transactions and approval of journal entries.
Providing material contribution for annual audits and tax compliance reporting. Prepares all 990 tax requests, manages W2 reporting and quarterly tax filings.
Ensuring financial compliance for grants.
Identifying areas for system efficiencies and improvements.
Assisting Controller with monthly and year-end financial close and preparation of the annual financial statements.
Preparing month-end, year-end, and recurring journal entries.
Leading reconciliation of general ledger activity, inter-fund activity, researching reconciling items and maintenance of restricted funds.
Assisting with the maintenance and monitoring of internal controls and developing system controls for ensuring data integrity.

Please Have:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
CPA a plus
Experience in higher education or nonprofit management
